Food Spot | Heat @ Edsa Shangri-La: Mad For Lobster

By huayyu - 9/29/2017

I am soooo in love with seafood especially shellfish. When I learned about the Mad For Lobster at Edsa Shangri-La, I can't wait to try it out.

I learned about Mad For Lobster thru the post of my classmate on Instagram.  I have always wanted to try eating lobster for real.  The lobster that we usually see on T.V.

I immediately searched the price on the web and found out that it is Php2,615!!! Wow! Very expensive.  For more details, visit their website: Mad For Lobster @ Edsa Shangri-La

Luckily for me, Eatigo became available.  Eatigo is an app that gives discounts to restaurants.  Want to learn more about Eatigo?  Visit my post: Eatigo: Legit or Scam?

We were seated very quickly for a Friday night.  Of course, once we got inside, the first thing we checked out was the lobsters.

I scanned first the buffet area, checking out which food to try first.  There are a lot of different lobster dishes.  What I liked best is the lobster stew (first picture).

It was kind of disappointing because I was expecting more flavor will be added to the lobster.  Most of the lobster dishes are kind of dry.  When I asked the chef to cook me a chili lobster, what I got was a lobster deep-fried in oil with a chili oil sauce.  I guess I wasn't specific enough on what type of chili they would use.  It just tasted bland.

Not only that but the shrimp dish is a disappointment as well.  The shrimp is not fresh at all.  The meat of the shrimp sticks at the shell and the meat is too soft.  I was afraid that I might get a stomach ache that I didn't finish it.

Below is the picture of the shrimp.  If you will see, only the white parts are seen.  There are no pinkish stripes and the meat is all torn up because it stuck to the shell.  I can't even pull the meat out properly in the tail part.

Here are the other dishes that they serve.

I did have fun at their dessert station.  Their ube ice cream (they named it purple yam ice cream) is so delish!!!  Plus they have my favorite topping which is sliced almond and my favorite nut, hazelnut!!!  I have never seen a whole hazelnut before, well, except inside chocolate but that is not the same thing.

I loved their dessert.  They even have a lobster ice cream! I didn't dare try it.  Not sure if it will smell kind of fishy.

Here are the other desserts:

The service is also a bit disappointing.  It is hard to request for a water refill and for a dessert spoon.  Not sure why they don't have a dessert spoon in the buffet area.  Even if not in the buffet area, there should be one in the place setting.  We have to call the server to request a spoon and it seems like they are all busy.

The good thing for us is that we have a discount for this buffet otherwise we would be ultimately disappointed as it not be worth the price.
