Food Spot | Jin Joo Korean Grill SM Mall of Asia Branch

By huayyu - 9/19/2018

Still loving Korean dishes, here is another Korean Grill restaurant at SM Mall of Asia.  Interested?  Read on to find out more.

We went to the SM Mall of Asia branch of Jin Joo Korean Grill since this is the closest to mine and my friend's place.  My friend was the one who suggested this place since she saw its posts on Instagram and was curious to see if it tastes as good as it looks.

We went there just as the mall is about to open so we were the first customers of Jin Joo Korean Grill for that day.  The place is very clean and well maintained.  Each table has its own exhaust fan.

The staff was super attentive and they were able to get our orders and make recommendations as well to what dishes are popular.

Here are what we ordered:

  • Samgyupsal Php390.00:  You cannot go wrong with ordering Samgyupsal in a Korean grill restaurant.  Since this is the only barbecue dish that we ordered, they served it already grilled.  For me, it has no special sauce or marinade and the serving is small for the price of Php390.00.

  • Rabokki Php 280.00:  This one is my special request.  Rabokki is the same as tteokbokki but with ramen in it.  I wanted to try if this will surpass other Rabokki that I have tasted.  Only I was a little bit disappointed because it tastes okay only.  No certain taste that will make it different or even better.

  • Gudeung-Gui or Grilled Mackerel Php 400.00:  This one is ordered by my friend because she wants a fish dish.  For me, it tastes and smells a bit fishy.  But this is just me.  As I have mentioned in my previous posts, I am a bit sensitive to smells so I don't really love fish.  My friend was able to finish it so I guess it tastes good for her.

  • Cheese Deung Galbi Php 950.00: Now, this is the highlight of the day.  It has ribs, mozzarella cheese, steamed rice, kimchi, corn, beansprouts, and steamed egg.  Their staff helped us cook or prepare the dish.  First, they cooked the cheese and roll it around the ribs.  After that, they created the rice as bibimbap (mixed the kimchi, egg, beansprouts, and corn).  This one is the dish you shouldn't miss.  It really tastes good.  Be sure to eat it while it is hot especially the ribs with cheese.

Before I forget, the do serve banchan or side dishes as well.  But not as many as other stores but theirs tastes good especially the fish cakes.

Overall, I would say that most of their dishes are okay but the real highlight is the Cheese Deung Galbi.  Their staff is attentive and helpful.  However, this is also one of the most expensive Korean restaurants that I have been to.  If you just want to eat grilled meat, then you are better off eating in an unlimited Korean BBQ like Premier The Samgyupsal or Samgyupsalamat which is less expensive.  But if you want to try out the Cheese Deung Galbi then I would recommend this restaurant.
