Food Spot | Honolulu HK Cafe

By huayyu - 11/15/2019

One of the things that I miss when going to Hong Kong is their food.  Most especially their rice because I love its fragrant smell and the stickiness of it.  Look no further because you can experience authentic Hong Kong cuisine here in the Philippines.  Honolulu HK Cafe is now open with branches at BGC and Manila.

We have tried eating at both branches and the one that I am reviewing is the branch in Robinsons Place Manila.  When we first tried this restaurant, I thought to myself that this is it.  Exactly the same smell, taste and feel.  Just like one of the restaurants we tried in Hong Kong.

Here are what we ordered:

BO LO BBQ PORK BUN: PHP 60.00

Their famous version of the Asado Bun.  I love how soft the bread is.  Perfect food to take out.

CURRY FISH BALL: PHP 198.00

I just love their version of curry that even the curry fish ball is very delicious.  If you are looking for a light snack then this is the dish for you.  Pair it with the Bo Lo Bun for a satisfying snack.  Sorry about the picture, it was supposed to be 10 pieces but we got excited to try it that I forgot to take a picture before eating.

SWEET AND SOUR PORK: PHP 288.00

One of my favorite Hong Kong classic dishes.  You can smell the sourness of the dish and how the meat is tender but crispy on the outside.  My recommended order for those who really want to taste the authentic Hong Kong Sweet and Sour Pork.  Perfect pair with plain white rice.

BEEF BRISKET: PHP 328.00

You know that dish where you want to scrape out even the last drop of the sauce?  This Beef Brisket will make you want to mix your rice together with the sauce.  Since we are sharing this dish, we ordered the big one.  But if you are eating it alone, there is also the rice topping version.  This curry does not have a strong taste or odor and has a mild taste of spicy which will suit the taste of those who are afraid of spicy dishes.  Another dish perfect with plain white rice.  Another tip, if there is some sauce left, mix the rest of your rice in the clay pot.  The sauce will stick to the rice and will give it flavor.

STIRRED FRIED HONG KONG STYLE NOODLE WITH PORK CHOP IN XO SAUCE: PHP 268.00

I don't really like Hong Kong noodles much probably because they have a bit dry and too firm.  I was mistaken with this one.  The noodles are al dente with a hint of spicy because of the XO sauce.  I also like that they sliced the pork chop thinly making it easier to eat.

Overall, I love how authentic the dishes are.  I would definitely come back again.
