 Watami Greenbelt

Watami is a Japanese casual dining restaurant that has a lot to offer.  They are part of the TGIF Group of companies.

I have always love Japanese food.  Well, except for makis, sushis, or anything that is raw.  We decided to try Watami for a change.

Here are what we ordered:

CALIFORNIA MAKI: PHP  335.00

As mentioned, I am really not a fan of makis.  I think because for me it smells a bit fishy.  I did try a gimbap once and it tastes like "suman".  But since my sister loves makis, we decided to order it and based on her taste, she said it was delicious.  Guess I have to take her word for it.

DEEP FRIED TOFU WITH TEMPURA SAUCE IN STONE POT: PHP 230.00

This is something new that I have tried.  I guess it is a bit like Tempura but instead of Ebi, they used Tofu instead.  I love Japanese Tofu so this dish is something that I really like.  It has the crunch of the outer coating and the softness of the Tofu while the sauce compliments the Tofu's bland taste.  I recommend this dish for those who are looking for something new.

I love stone pots especially if it is a rice bowl stone pot.  I just love how the rice below gets a bit burnt for a crunchier texture.  This Chasu Rice is best for picky eaters.  Be careful not to burn yourself while eating in a stone pot.  The pot could get very hot.

CHICKEN KATSU CURRY: PHP380.00

When going to a Japanese restaurant, ordering a curry is a must.  I love Japanese curries and Watami's curry is no exception.  Eat it while it's hot.

HOMEMADE GYOZA: PHP 230.00

Another must-have when going to a Japanese restaurant, Gyoza.  Though this one tastes pretty much the same as other restaurants.  Still tastes good and food experience in a Japanese restaurant won't be complete without it.

Overall, I find the prices are a bit expensive compared to other Japanese restaurants.  But definitely worth trying out.
