Last week, I got my very first invite to a Zomato Foodie Meet at Sabor Bar De Vinos.  And what a wonderful experience it was.
To tell you the truth, I honestly don't drink. At all.  I don't like the taste of liquor because it is bitter.  I was a bit skeptical at first when I receive the invite because the place will be a bar and I already expected that they will serve alcoholic drinks.

I was worried that the people around me might ask why I went there if I don't like to drink but I do want to experience the Zomato meet up and because of that, I went.


Upon entering the bar, I was greeted by Novotel's Director of Digital Marketing, Angela Silvestre together with the other Zomato foodies.  She then gave us a tour of the bar.  At first, when you enter the bar, it is small but there is a side hallway that leads to their Alfresco area.




We were served first, as you guessed it, an alcoholic drink, Sangria de Rosa.  It is said to be the second level of their Sangrias.  I bravely took a sip and to my surprise, it does not taste bitter at all and it has no alcohol smell.  What I can smell from it was the orange garnish.  Not bad at all.


Then they started serving finger foods.  Now, don't ask me to name all the food that they serve because it was too many that I forgot.  But I can definitely let you know my favorite ones.

For the balls, I like the Beetroot Aracini with Goat Cheese.  Since there are 3 kinds of those below, I am not sure which one is the Beetroot Aracini with Goat Cheese.  I have never tried beetroot before but they tasted great.  I can't even tell that they were beetroot except that the color of the inside is red.




The next thing that amazes me is their Curry Sausage.  I didn't know that there is such thing as tomato curry and if you look at it, unless they mentioned that it is a curry, you won't even notice it because of the red color of the sauce.  A definite must for those who love flavorful tapas.


Another one of my favorites is Gambas Al Ajillo.  As you all know by now, I love shrimps.  This is a dish that a shrimp lover should not miss.


Last one, the Galician-Style Chicken Empanada.  I just love how they made the empanada crust, it has the right flaky the same as the choux pastry (this is me being a baker 😁). From what I heard, they made it fresh every day.


Here is their cheese platter.  One of the highlights is the Sangria Jelly that is included in the platter.  Now don't be fooled by this jelly.  It is made with Sangria so there is alcohol content that might make you drunk.

Lastly, they served one more sangria which is the Fortress Sangria.  This is the third level of the Sangrias that they have. I won't suggest this to those who are not strong drinkers like me.  I took just a sip of it and a few seconds later I could feel the heat in my throat.  I still prefer Sangria de Rosa (which is the first one) or their level 1 Sangria, Sangria Blanco.


I had a great time during the event.  Hopefully, Zomato would invite me again to another one.

I would recommend this bar to those who would want to unwind after a hard day's work.
