Gadget Review | Huawei Freebuds 4i

Ever since some companies decided to remove the slot for the earphone jack, I have already been looking for affordable yet good quality wireless earphones.  Good thing I waited for Huawei's Freebuds 4i.

All my gadgets with the exception of my personal computer have no slot for the earphone jack.  Both my Huawei MatePad Pro and iPhone 11 need an adapter for me to use a regular earphone.  Don't know why they thought it would be cool to remove it.  Not all of us can afford a pair of decent earbuds without breaking our wallets.

All good quality earphones are usually priced from Php5,000 which is too much for just a pair of earphones.  I really don't care about the bass or any advanced stuff.  I just need a clear sound with good connectivity and long battery hours.  That is where Huawei's Freebuds 4i comes in.

As soon as I saw this earbud, the price, and the review, I knew I had to pre-order it.  For the price of only Php3,599, I could get 10 hours of battery life on the buds alone.  Or so they said in the advertisement.

So is it really worth it?  Read on to find out more.

I pre-ordered this at Huawei's Official Store at Shopee.  The pre-order comes with a free gift, a Bluetooth speaker.  It took at least a week before I received it because of the pre-order.  I actually received it earlier than intended.

First off, I love the design.  Very easy to hold and the back is flat so that you could easily put it on the table without falling off.  I choose the white design because of the minimalist look.  As soon as I hold the device, I knew that I made the right choice.  The quality of the material is "thick" or a bit heavy to feel so it is good quality.  There are tws earphones that are priced at Php1,000 but they are too light that I feel like they would easily break if I drop them once.

It has an indicator at the front.  Green means there is still enough battery, red means you need to charge it, white is connecting, and yellow is a warning that the battery is low.  There is also a function button on the side for reset and pairing.

I don't really like in-ear-styled earphones because they hurt.  I prefer the old style, much more comfortable.  The Freebuds 4i is probably in between these designs and surprisingly it is not that uncomfortable.  Mind you, I do get uncomfortable wearing them with my head on a pillow lying sideways.  So obviously it hurts.

So what is my experience using them for a day?  Amazing!!!  This is my first time using noise-canceling earbuds and I love them.  The aircon in my room is loud and when I wear them it minimizes the outside sound.  Though, if the buds are not hooked properly in the ear, I can still get outside sounds.  This is just actually a plus for me.  You can also turn off the noise-canceling or put it in awareness mode.  Both sound and speaker are clear.  Just don't expect any advanced "features" like what you would get on a high-end piece.

I tried using them all day to prove the 10-hour battery life of the earbuds and it is close enough.  I think I used these for around 8 to 9 hrs which is pretty solid.  Now, I don't have to worry about losing battery when I have important meetings or maybe watching my favorite Korean Drama.  This is usually my problem when using wireless, the battery span is not enough for my usage.  So I am very happy with the battery of the Freebuds 4i.

It uses the usual Type C cord which means fast charging!

I had to buy a casing since I am afraid that if I did drop it, it would break.  I bought two protective cases and one of them is the cherry case.  I regretted buying this case since it is very hard to take it off.  It is so hard that I thought I would break the earbuds.  The only thing that made this pretty is the attached charm.

The second case that I bought is a gradient-colored case.  Instead of inserting the Freebuds, the body of the case is a clip-on, much easier for placing and removing the device.  I also like the color, very cute and soooo me.  This is a hard case and must buy.

Final verdict?  Huawei Freebuds 4i is a must-buy for those who are looking for affordable yet good quality earbuds.  If you only want reliable earbuds that connect when need to be and have a clear sound and speaker then this is for you.  I am loving mine that I regretted buying other Php1,000 earphones.  If If I add all the other wireless earphones that I bought, I would be able to buy this.
