The actual reason why I needed to buy another pair of earbuds was because Microsoft Teams is very choosy. I have a Huawei Freebuds 4i which I like very much because it is very sturdy in my opinion. In case you missed my Huawei Freebuds 4i review, check it out here. Unfortunately, in the middle of the meeting using MS Teams, it would release a strong static sound which can hurt my ears and surprise me. It seems that Huawei and MS Teams are not compatible as this only happens when using the app.
I had to look for an affordable wireless earbuds that would fit my needs. I actually don't care much about bass or whatever requirements an audiophile needs. I just want a practical earbuds that can be used longer than an hour, has a good quality sound, good Bluetooth connection and fits my ears well. Not too much right? But it took me a long time for me to find the right one.
The brand Moondrop is new to me but I like their designs and when I look at the rating reviews, it got a 5-star rating in one of the shops at Shopee. Plus it fits my budget. My budget is less than Php2,000 and it is priced around Php1,500. I took a chance to try the Moondrop Nekocake TWS and it didn't disappoint.
The design of the earbuds is what I was looking for. I much prefer this type of fit instead of those round in-ears which often gets loose once worn. This design is much similar to Apple's Airpods. I also love the design, very anime look. Neko is cat in Japanese which is why it has a cat logo on both the earbuds and the case. It also has a subtle brand name on the side which fits well.
Sound wise, it is pretty clear and no static. It pairs quickly and so far no connection issues that I detected. And yes, it works well with MS Teams. No more sudden static. It also has a noise cancellation (ANC) and touch sensitive. It can play / stop music, answer calls as well as activate voice assistant.
The one thing that irked me is the sound of the voice when saying connected or ANC Off. It has an accent which I can never guess if it is telling me that the ANC is on or off. Though it has ANC, I can never really tell the difference with or without one.
The case is minimalist white while the top has a somewhat anime design. It took a little of time to get used to because the position of the hole is different from my Huawei Freebuds.
This one is one of the things that I love. It has an indicator!!! There are some earbuds that does not have an indicator if it is charging, needs to charge or fully charged. Very easy to determine what is the status of the device. By the way, it also has a button at the back which I forgot to take a picture, that uses to reset or pair the device. Very straightforward to use.
And yes, it is Type C. I'm actually glad that the charging cord is Type C because it means that it charges faster. I know some that uses micro-usb which takes forever to charge.
The charging port is located at the bottom of the case. It does charge fast but I wasn't able to time how fast it took to charge the case with the earbuds. It took about 2 to 3 days before I would charge the case. The earbuds also gets charged quickly.
Overall, I would recommend this to those who are looking for an affordable yet quality earbuds. The Moondrop Nekocake TWS has all the basic qualities that you might look for in a wireless earbuds. I would recommend it to those who often has meetings or for online classes.
